Please never get a gaming chair for sitting. Always and always get an office chair for sitting and comfortability. RM1k budget is quite a lot.
Sihoo, Blade Lab, Merryfair and Reiko are pretty well known and pretty affordable. Herman Miller and Aeron are the top top brand but we are talking about thousands for a chair.
I’ve been using Sihoo B100 Pro ( RM 700 ) for about a year now and still in good condition and I always sitting on it everyday ( 2-3 hours after work and 8+ hours on weekend ). By good condition means no broken parts and no sign of mesh cushion peel off.

Ergonomics chair are good investment. But not "gaming " chairs, you paid for the brand instead of the actual function.
I go YOLO for a Niture chair, solved my lower back pain almost instantly.
Also, recently had a minor abdominal surgery, sitting at any chair will cause pressure on the wounds. Siting in an ergonomics chair is the only place where the wounds won't hurt.

Since you only game about once a week, I’d look more at an ergonomic chair than a traditional gaming chair. HBADA is another option worth checking, especially their ergonomic models with recline and adjustable support, so you can compare them with Secretlab and TTRacing before deciding.
Alibaba can look cheap, but shipping, customs, and quality can change the final cost a lot. If you’re comparing ergonomic options, HBADA is also worth checking they offer adjustable lumbar support and ergonomic designs without going fully premium-priced.

Okdo Vari feels pretty good, although I did switch from what is basically a brick cheap tepi jalan office chair and just started using the chair. The spring suppirts look gimmicky but it feels nice for me
Its around 400 though i believe, it doesnt beat the 7k office chair my internship had but still really good
i got my okdo vari + today and my first impression upon trying it is that its super comfortable for me.the lumbar support fits me well. im a 74 kg adult and i can say this chair is comfortable. i disagree with the stiff lumbar support reviews,it has a balanced softness, not hard not soft lumbar support which i like. it has a forward and back ward seat adjustment which is a plus. i just wish they are selling seatpan replacement also once the mesh fabric worns out. overall im very much satisfied with my chair.. i love it. the recliner work nice and sturdy and balanced well... my only problem is im getting sleepy when i use this chair, maybe its just too comfortable...well recommended product. and i just got it for 4300PHP shopee flash deal..so worth it!

Been using alterseat cg prime for 4 years. Its very good and would reccomend. I went to the showroom and sat all their chairs each for a long time, about 20 mins each chair. Only the cg prime is comfortable, rest is meh.
I got alterseat I believe REVO V2.
Creaks a bit when you lean back sometimes. Wheels, structure all steady. Mesh back so airflow there, not hot. Cushion is decent, ass doesn't hurt. Back will hurt first from poor posture.
The pump and angle lock got a bit loose after a couple years. Might be I unlucky, not that it is a product line issue. Once a blue moon I get jumpscare as the lock undoes itself and I fly back in my chair. Keeps me awake. Not a big issue for me.
Using for about 5 years ish. Nothing broken. Heavy use as I got hybrid work and I play a lot of games or watch stuff on my work monitor. Probably 10 hours or more a day.

Owned a Lenoble 905 for my office and E05 Pro for my home office for almost a year now. The mesh integrity still feels like the first time I sat on it. I weight 75KG. If it last at least 3 more years, I'm okay fine with it.

Herman Miller Logitech Gaming Embody is the best one I've used so far.
I had a Noblechairs Legend for 2 years before the backrest broke and I upgraded.
Let me give you the best advice ( as someone who experienced Noblechair for years ), just get a comfy ergonomic chair. Not these gaming chairs; the comfort is unmatched when it comes to ergonomic chairs.
I know you might be thinking the style might not look cool and etc. But remember, if you are using it often. Go for ergonomic chair, you won't regret it

Hi!! I just got this same chair based on your review, so thank you! I’m not sure if there’s a breaking in period but i noticed that my upper back is starting to hurt using this chair. It’s only been a day but i originally got this chair for my lower back problems. My lower back feels supported now with the lumbar support, but now my upper back is starting to hurt. I think because i have a gap between my back and the back of the chair. Has anyone found a fix for this? Also, i cant help but feel like im slouching when leaning back in the chair (it’s locked and not reclining btw).

Heard about Todak before? Also some good reviews on the IKEA Markus if you want something purchased locally. Heck looking at the price of the others, I understood the requirement being local-made.
I'd suggest an alternative (cheapskate) if you don't mind used chairs, look out for discarded office/gaming chairs where the wheel and chair base is the only thing that is broken. Learn how to swap out the seats with the donor chair and you'll basically getting a "new" chair. Just saying my piece since I've saved hundreds on free replacements this way, mostly still pristine chair.

I’ve had it for a couple of weeks. I’ll be returning it soon and trying the LiberNovo Maxis Manual next.
The back just doesn’t seem designed for somebody my size. I do have a long torso. I’m 6’2 but my pant length is a 30. The back being a hard shell instead of mesh stops my shoulders from opening and forces me to hunch which is causing middle/upper back pain nightly. I use it probably 3-4 hrs/day.
If the LiberNovo Maxis doesn’t work, ill be buying a Herman Miller Verus which is the one I use at work and while its seat is firm and not super comfortable, it doesn’t cause any back pain and thats my goal.

Brand new Colomy Atlas, Ikea Markus. Add an extra £100 Secret Labs Titan Evo.
£350 is an awkward price for chairs to be honest because the good ones are cheaper but don’t have the best build and the slightly more expensive Titan Evo has amazing build quality but sits in a price of refurb high end ortho chairs.
You might be lucky to find a used Aeron or Leap V2 in good condition but I’d buy from a certified refurb unless you’re paying peanuts.

To me it feels like the new man cave is your desk setup / office space for people that work from home. Work there all day, then game or watch YT. I don't work from home as much as I'd like to, but I still do. But I have definitely created my man cave space in our house around my office.

Really good ergo chair is surely expensive, but take it with grain of salt as I'm not that rich to explore this.
I personally used Tomaz (cheapest one at the time i buy, was around 550). It lasts me for almost 5 years i think, around pkp, until now. The build is good, comfy, but not so ergonomic i would say. There are the 2000 ones which i've tested, and can immediately tell the difference.
Now I swap my workstation with airflex (got it during discount rm350 somewhere). Its okay, helps me with my posture.
But in the end, I just decided better to walk around few minutes every hour. I.e, when i was playing valo/apex, when in queue, go grab some drink or snack lo. Helps me to never feel backpain from sitting since then.

TT Racing Aeroflex ergochair. I just bought 2 unit on shopee yesterday. This is goat. Tried many time and confirmed
I dont think you can get a Secretlab chair for 1k? The cheaper and similar version would be TTracing. I bought the Secretlab Titan Evo back in 2021 and it is still looking and functioning well. Seats are still firm and does not sag which i like. I bought the fabric version and the only issue is sweat stains due to the hot and humid weather. I clean the chair using the cleaning foam from secretlab chair but doesnt seem to work.
Ergonomic Chair Buying Guide
What to Look For
- Full breathable mesh chairs (Sihoo M57, Alterseat, Hinomi) stay cool and eliminate sticky back sweat in warm Malaysian weather
- Local brands (Alterseat, ErgoWorks) have physical showrooms in Klang Valley / Penang to test chair fit before buying, backed by local warranties
- Adjustable ergonomic controls (lumbar height/depth, 3D/4D armrests, seat slide) relieve lower back stiffness and neck strain during long WFH hours
- Premium chairs (Herman Miller Aeron, Steelcase Gesture) offer legendary 12-year warranties and durable builds that last well over a decade
- High-density mesh and ergonomic frames promote upright sitting posture far better than bulky, unbreathable racing gaming chairs
What to Watch Out For
- Budget PU leather chairs (entry-level gaming brands) peel, crack, and flake heavily within 1–2 years in our humid climate
- Cheap office chairs under RM200 often have stiff, non-adjustable lumbar pads, weak gas lifts, and squeaky plastic frames
- High-end ergonomic brands require a serious financial commitment (RM2,500 to RM6,000+)
- Mesh tension on budget models may loosen or sag over 2-3 years of heavy daily sitting
- Chairs with aggressive headrests or lumbar curves may feel uncomfortable for very short (<155cm) or very tall users
Who Should Buy
- •WFH professionals, programmers, and students clocking 6 to 10+ hours seated at a desk daily
- •Anyone dealing with lower back pain, posture fatigue, or neck and shoulder stiffness
- •Users working in non-airconditioned rooms who need maximum heat dissipation and airflow
- •Buyers looking to invest once in a chair that will support their spine for 5 to 10+ years
Who Should Avoid
- •People looking for plush, sofa-style sinking recliners rather than supportive ergonomic posture
- •Buyers prioritizing flashy 'racing bucket' aesthetic over actual spine and lumbar support
- •Anyone buying a chair blindly without checking seat height and depth measurements against their desk setup
