Hello! I’m looking to buy a new air fryer for a family of four.

Budget: £250 or thereabouts.

Capacity: 3-4 portions.

Main goals: Replacing oven. Roasting/cooking veggies, small bites for children.

Style preference: One with glass basket/containers. Ease of cleaning.

I’m looking at the Ninja Crispi Pro, as it seems to have the most space to cook for four. Unsure whether to also consider the Crispi Dual Zone - bigger machine, but less space to cook? Can different things be cooked in the same basket (say, tofu and veg, chicken and chips) and be successful?

Also, are there any other glass-based options anyone would suggest?

I also could’ve sworn I’ve seen a video of someone separating the Crispi basket in two using the little dish and cooking in two levels. Is that possible, in anyone’s experience?

Thank you in advance!

If it’s not ninja, I’m not buying it.

Specifically, if it’s not the ninja megazone.

Sorry but I just love being able to cook everything in it and all its functions😂

Lasagne? 40 mins on bake

Chicken wings? 15 mins on air fry

Beef joint? Yes

You get the idea

Cornell huh, I've definitely seen them before but never owned any of their appliances unfortunately.

Then again, they're a pretty well established brand here too, so I wouldn't be too worried. Both actually looks near identical lol

Well, I have been using Russell Taylors airfryer for 3 years now, and it is still in good condition. I was thinking of trying their Mixer next. The price is Rm100 cheaper than Khind. Better spec too (at least on paper)

I use khind air fryer arf9500 bought from shoppee. Use nearly for everything. Got many attachments and functions. Oven style can see inside and in my opinion easier to use than tray type.
Even can cook one whole chicken just cucuk and let it rotate inside.
Only downside is that i keep have to clean the bottom plate from all the oil. Thank you bicarbonate soda

If you have the budget for it, get one with a steam function. Life changing. Steaming salmon before air frying them makes them moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Can steam pau and eggs. All in one device. Tefal and Philips both have one, retailing about RM7xx now.

The reason why the price is so "attractive" is because most of their products are cheap OEM from China, so you can imagine the quality :(

Same goes to Perysmith by the way~

I actually have a RT air fryer, I can sell it to you for cheap if you want (I got a free Corvan AF, so I've been using that).

Slotdog is amazing. You can achieve the same with a sharp knife but it's basically a bunch of crisscrossed razors with a long plastic enclosure. You press down on both sides of the wiener and it achieves a perfect scoring to enhance the crispy charring. Works great on zucchini too.

My only complaint is you can use it on sausages or anything with a real casing.

Thanks for the detailed comment,I appreciate it💙

Tbh I was looking at the Xiaomi one cause it is the most aesthetically pleasing to my eyes(I know shallow) and ninja is just the most popular brand so I find it easier in shops (small eu country problems).

I am talking about very mild use,if my parents aren't home and I wanna make smtg quickly to eat, last time I kinda broke some things so I was banned from the kitchen for the time being 🤣

I reckon Simplus as well! Mine is about 150 when I got it under vouchers and sales on shoppee I think. It's really good and working well so far! I also have their cold press juicer, really solid quality!

The cheapest options that suits your needs especially if you arent the type that likes to immediately maintain/clean the air fryer (like me).

Bought the simplus air fryer 2 years ago for less than rm100. Good warranty and customer service, still using it today and if something happens to it, wont feel frustrated.

Find a model with ceramic coating. Most airfryers are toxic. Even ninja and philips make a lot of toxic ones.

I recently got a Midea XpressHeat from Sam's. It's fine. I kind of miss my Gourmia one I got from Costco, but it stopped working. I don't live near a Costco anymore.

The Midea is suitable. The basket is deeper which is a bit more of a pain as it also has less tray space. I've touched the hot edges twice with tongs. It also doesn't have a preheat (rarely used it anyways) and have a turn notice.

Correct. Oven air fryers are marketing gimmicks. I fell for it. I had an air fryer but wanted to do it all in one. I bought a Midea. Tried cooking 3 things and all were undercooked in the same time it worked in my air fryer. I returned it the SAME day. I wrote a bad review and Midea contacted me and offered a free one because the one I had must have been bad. It wasn't. It's just the way those multi-purpose over air fryers work. They suck. I declined the free oven.

Air Fryer Buying Guide

What to Look For

  • Uses up to 85–90% less cooking oil than deep frying while keeping ayam goreng, fries, and nuggets crispy and juicy
  • Heats up in seconds and cooks 30–50% faster than a full-size conventional oven, saving electricity and kitchen prep time
  • Versatile for Malaysian favorites: ikan bakar, satay, sambal reheating, karipap, otak-otak, and reviving soggy keropok to day-one crunch
  • Transparent viewing windows with interior lights let you monitor browning progress without pulling out the basket and losing heat
  • Dual-zone and XXL capacities (6L to 9L+) let you air fry mains and roast veggies simultaneously at different temperatures

What to Watch Out For

  • Budget non-stick basket coatings can peel or flake after 1–2 years if scrubbed with abrasive wire or scotch-brite pads
  • New units often emit an initial plastic burn smell during the first few heating cycles (requires burn-in cleaning with lemon/water)
  • Large dual-basket and XXL models occupy substantial kitchen countertop space
  • Overcrowding the basket prevents rapid air circulation, leading to soggy, unevenly cooked food
  • Not suitable for liquid-heavy gravies, wet batters, or whole soup dishes

Who Should Buy

  • •Busy parents and working professionals needing quick, mess-free 15-minute weekday dinners
  • •Health-conscious home cooks wanting to cut down on excess oil without losing crispy textures
  • •Condo and studio apartment dwellers with limited kitchen space for bulky built-in ovens
  • •Anyone who loves frozen snacks, baked pastries, and reheating fried takeaway food

Who Should Avoid

  • •Large families who regularly cook massive 8–10 pax banquet feasts in a single batch (a large oven or wok is better)
  • •Cooks who primarily prepare soups, curries, or wet-batter tempura dishes
  • •Anyone unwilling to gently hand-wash non-stick baskets with soft non-scratch sponges

How to Compare Air Fryer

Key factors to evaluate before making your decision

1
Basket Capacity & Shape (3L–4L for singles/couples vs 6L–9L Dual-Zone for families)
2
Heating Power & Rapid Airflow Circulation (1400W–2000W for fast crisping)
3
Transparent Glass Viewing Window with Interior Light
4
Non-Stick Coating Quality (Food-grade Teflon, Ceramic, or Stainless Steel) & Dishwasher Safety
5
Temperature Range & Precise Digital Controls (40°C dehydrate to 200°C+ roasting)
6
Preset Cooking Menus (Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, Dehydrate)
