70mai A500S Reviews
the one that came with the package lol. But rarely happens la, so yeah for now Im still okay to just troubleshoot than replace with a new card.
I dismantled, cleaned using contact cleaner and install back. Still same. The ribbon also got no damage.
DDpai and 70mai are the best choices. Have used both brands, satisfied with both. Go for anything with GPS, >2k resolution and can support rear dashcam (70mai: A500/A800, DDpai: N5, Z40, Z50 etc). Higher resolution will be useful when reviewing footage as you'll be able to identify number plates/signboards etc from a further distance especially at night. GPS is useful for speed tracking and provides coordinates to identify footage location. Screen or no screen doesn't really matter as everything is controlled through the mobile app anyway
My issue with my A500 post installation is the dashcam keeps rebooting randomly and the date and time are always inaccurate for some reason after turning my car on even after syncing it with the app i have to do it every time. Anyone having a similar issue?
70mai A500s + external battery pack (non-70mai)
Coming to 5 years, maybe I'll just change the built-in batt later this year.
70mai. Midrange will do. A500s. I have been using for years. Recently add another one to my new car. Get the model with rear camera included. Rear camera is a must. Forget hardwire...will suck your car battery dry. Unless you park outside and live in Klang, it is not needed.
I been using 70mai A500s & A510s for both if my cars since 2021 & 2023. So far no issue.
Only flaw (not even a flaw actually) is that its pretty sensitive. When I pass a hole/uneven road or expansion joint quickly, it starts recording emergency video, always. To be fair, I run adjustable shocks on both cars so the ride is stiff.
That sensitivity is kinda good thing if you view it in a safety perspective. However, if im not mistaken, you can disable it.
Got my recommendation through here few weeks ago, got my 70mai A500s (front and rear), RM366 via shopee, then go to Dasher to install it, add on another RM85 for hardwire kit and RM160 for both dashcam and hardwire kit installation. RM611 in total. Installation took 20 minutes. So far, the experiences are good, the videos are well recorded and clear, and although my rear tinted is 95%, the video can still be seen clearly. The apps is user friendly, straightforward.
70mai's a500 variant is alright, priced in shopee RM500-RM600. Also take into account service charge for installation, less than RM200. Can see total RM 700.
im a satisfied user of 70mai a500s for 3+ years already. Dashcam all still good. Battery still okay as well.
Sidenote: my parking is shaded though. But even if the battery kaput can easily replace it with new ones, lots of tutorials out there.
These are the cheapest I found so far, with rear cam, 64 gb memory card, warranty and installation included at Sato Bangi 7 (honestly I only asked few of my friends and compare prices in Shopee lol).
They exclusively sell 70mai products:
A200 rm350
A400 rm420
A500S Pro Plus rm550
A510 Set rm580
A800s rm680
Hardwire kit RM100 optional for parking mode.
You may use this as a benchmark for the price. But if you want to save more, just buy online and install it yourself. It's not that hard. I'm just lazy lol.
70mai products are great, even the app is good and easy to use. I've got 3 of A800s but I believe A500s will do the job pretty well too. Just be sure to get a proper SD card, it you have the option to buy it together then go ahead cause AFAIK it'll be the high endurance one
The difference in battery drain is negligible. They all require some amount of power draw to keep the sensors running, whether radar or G-force sensor. They are in sleep mode most of the time and only start recording when motion is detected. Provided that you start your car frequently, it shouldn't be an issue
I've not used DDPAI, currently using 70mai A800s and I can say I'm satisfied with the quality and the app is pretty good too.
The performance and price is good for A400, you can get front+rear for just below 400 on Lazada.
Another suggestion is A500s but that's about RM100 more, it has a Sony sensor, ADAS, lens angle adjustable.
I personally don't have hardwire. It depends on your use case, if you often park your car in sketchy area or crowded parking space you might want to include it but it'll come at an extra cost to purchase it and also the installation
I've got 70mai A800s (Front & Rear w/out hardwire). It's a little pricey but it's a one-time thing and it's been doing its job pretty well. Definitely a top suggestion of it's within your budget.
If you want something cheaper, you take a look at A500s or DDPAI N5 but I've not personally used any of these two.
70mai A500s. Not much more than your budget, great dashcam. Buy once pretty much don’t buy anymore unless new car so it’s fine. Get a high endurance SD card cuz dashcam gets real hot.
